Zoopolis 500

Every year the Indianapolis Zoo has the "Zoopolis 500" which is a tortoise race between the Zoo's two tortoises, AJ and Lyn St. James. This year driver Tony Kanaan (TK) was an MC at the race. When Luke heard TK was going to be there he proclaimed that he was going to get a picture of TK holding Jack. TK has long been Luke's favorite driver. I thought this was a ridiculous goal since I figured TK would be in the arena with the tortoises and not out among the spectators. Well, Luke succeeded by figuring out where TK would be coming in from and going over there with Jack. He got TK's attention and asked for a picture. TK was more than happy to oblige, as he has a little boy not muck older than Jack. The big surprise though was that Jack went to TK so easily. He is kind of notorious for not going to other people. But he was happy with his Daddy's favorite driver and was in no hurry to leave him.

In the first picture you see the winner of this year's race, Lyn St. James. In the second you can see TK trying to pursude AJ to move in the right direction. The last three are Luke's pride and joy!

The amazing Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

Today was Community Day at the track and we took full advantage! The open the garages, the pagoda, and the track to the public. You can drive your own car around the track. The first picture is the boys with Tony Kanaan's car. Second is all of us in one of the suites checking out the track action. Third is the famous yard of bricks as we drove over it. Fourth is our view out the front windshield going down the front straight away. Finally, is me driving on the track. Look at me go (35 mph is all they allow)!

Boys in Graham Rahal's car!

All the boys got to sit in Graham Rahal's car. The crew guys were very nice to let them sit in this car. This is not the car he'll drive at Indy, but it is their set-up car for next week's race, so it is a real one! Jack is the biggest race fan of the family and when he saw the big boys getting to sit in the "fast ca" he started thrashing in the stroller to be let out and into that car! If they hadn't started an engine in the next garage stall over, I don't know that we would have ever gotten him out of that car!

Meeting Drivers & Borg

Okay, the first picture is William with driver Oriol Servia. The second is the boys with the BorgWarner trophy. Third is William getting rookie driver Mike Conway's autograph (he had a rough month with two crashes already). Finally is William getting Raphael Matos' signature (fastest rookie this year).

Rookie Run

We did the Rookie Run downtown this weekend. It was Henry's first time and William's third. They had a great time and Luke, Jack and I survived, so it was very successful! Nothing like swarms of parents and their little kids to make you appreciate the relative quiet of your own life! And if you know how crazy our house is, that should tell you what this event is like! Not sure why the pictures posted out of order, but you get the idea.

Honorable Mention

Every year Speedway has a 500 decorating contest. I entered again this year and got an Honorable Mention! Yippee! Here are some pics of the house and the munchkins who inhabit it.
